Your comments, including any highlights:
Ben Ejadu of Homestead Tours and Safaris is a gem. His background as a ranger gave him intimate knowledge of all the parks in Uganda (and beyond) and knowledge of the absolute best guides to connect you with. His passion as a guide shows through his careful planning and his willingness to meet the needs of his clients rather than getting his clients to follow his needs; and his love for Uganda is infectious. And I totally believe he knows nearly everyone in Uganda…. AND he’s a benefit to community members – he gives back a portion of his fees for projects like clean water so women and children don’t have to spend all day collecting water – and the girls can go to school.

I know I’m not alone in my opinion because I booked Ben based on a well-travelled friend’s experience. Ben is able to work within your budget, I wanted midrange. (We’d done high-end Safari, loved it but felt very coddled and separated from reality.) We stayed at a former tea plantation where water was heated by logs, a community-benefiting hotel with views over the Rift Valley, a hotel on a lake with the most amazing bird life imaginable. (And Ben can identify them all.) And I think we were the only people who had a guide that made arrangements with hotels for post gorilla/chimpanzee trekking showers! We ate at the top restaurant in Queen Elizabeth Park and at neighborhood joints. I ate goat for the first time and loved it.

Sounds trite, but it all was very real. Yet clean and safe.

I was happy to let Ben do the planning, but if you have requirements like no steps or a constant WiFi stream, just let him know. I know he’ll take good care of you.

Have you got any suggestions to make which would help us to improve our website or the service we offer?
Maybe just give info that some people might find difficult (eg: this hotel has steep paths, there is no consistent WiFi here, water is heated on demand). I loved the adventure, I can think of a few people who wouldn’t. Then again, they’d probably sign up with Abercrombie and Kent….

Thank you very much for letting us know about your safari with Ben. We’re pleased it was such a good experience for you. You’re right – Ben does know the names of all the birds! And he knows where to find the animals – and the best local guides! Please come again – and next time, explore eastern and northern Uganda, to meet people and discover new animals you haven’t yet seen, as well as lakes and mountains, waterfalls and swamps …… There’s still so much more to experience in Uganda.

Your comments, including any highlights: From beginning to end our trip to Uganda organised by Homestead Tours was spectacular. We went for our honeymoon and it really was a trip of a lifetime. Our guide, Ben, did everything he could to ensure our holiday was comfortable, fun and memorable. Nothing we asked was too much for him. Ben has amazing knowledge of Ugandan wildlife, geography, history, conservation – the list is endless! When you travel with Ben it is the same as having an expert with you! Our highlight has to be gorilla trekking in Mgahinga National Park. Ben recommended Mgahinga as he knew that one of our priorities was to capture the experience with photographs of the gorillas and here the visibility is great as the undergrowth is not so dense. We spent an hour with the gorillas watching them unobstructed and in awe! We wouldn’t change a thing about our trip except that it would be longer!

Have you got any suggestions to make which would help us to improve our website or the service we offer?: Everything was amazing!

Thank you for writing a review of your recent trip. We are so pleased that your honeymoon, perhaps the most important holiday of your lives, was such a success and has given you many precious memories. We wish you all the best in the years ahead and hope you will return to Uganda one day to visit the east and north!

How did you hear about Homestead Tours and Safaris?: Went with a friend who often uses Ben and Robert

Date of your Tour: November 2018

Name of your Tour (if a pre-planned package) or Main Places Visited (if it was a tailor-made Tour): We were based in Teso and visited Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Murchison Falls National Park, Kidepo National Park, Mabira Forest

Comments:  Robert was our driver on our 4 week stay – and we couldn’t have asked for anyone better.  He was very knowledgeable about all the places we visited and, with his particular interest in ornithology, was a pleasure to be with.  We saw lots of animals that we probably would have missed if it hadn’t been for his expertise on where to look.  Kind, funny, helpful and a very careful driver.   Recommended.

Date of your Tour: Dec 22, 2018

Name of your Tour (if a pre-planned package) or Main Places Visited (if it was a tailor-made Tour): Gorilla trekking, chimp tracking and safari

Your comments, including any highlights: From the moment that we were met by our driver Ben, to the moment he dropped us off at the airport – we had an absolutely amazing time. His genuine interest and unfathomable knowledge of the wildlife found in Uganda is second to none and proved to be a seriously educational visit.

We saw all of the big 5, and then some more. Ben’s suggestion to go to the slightly less visited Gorilla park in Mgahinga was inspired as it only took us 40 minutes to find the pack on the day – other groups had been trekking for hours!

It’s very hard to pick a particular highlight as, day after day, Ben managed to pull more and more amazement out of the bag. I highly recommend a trip to Uganda, and would recommend Homestead Tours above all.

We’re so pleased you had such a wonderful time, James. Thank you for recommending us.

Name of your Tour (if a pre-planned package) or Main Places Visited (if it was a tailor-made Tour): Chimp and gorilla tracking and safari.

Your comments, including any highlights: We had an absolutely fantastic trip with Homestead Tours with Ben as our guide. He custom made our tour perfectly and the accommodation he booked for us was extremely comfortable in beautiful locations. The food was always fabulous too! Ben is an excellent guide- he went out of his way every day to ensure we saw many different animals at close range and was able to give us SO much information about them.. and patiently answered our endless questions! His knowledge is outstanding! Tracking the chimps and gorillas and seeing them in their natural habitat at such close proximity is something I will never forget! So many wonderful memories! Thank you, Ben, for making our trip so incredible! I can’t wait to come back – plans are already underway!

Thank you very much for your kind comments, Jane and Lucy. We’re so pleased you had a wonderful time and are looking forward to seeing you again.

Date of your Tour: November 2018

Main Places Visited: Queen Elizabeth NP, Kazinga Channel, Bwindi NP

Your comments, including any highlights: I went with a different company but with Ben as Guide and Driver. I went on my own and had an excellent time, I felt really safe and well taken care of. Great accommodation and treatment everywhere we went. Ben is an experienced wildlife guide and has a great knowledge that he willingly shared, not just about the wildlife in Uganda but, also about traditions and culture. Ben took me and another woman around Uganda for a week in a van, we got to see lions, hippos, monkeys, buffalos, chimps and elephants among others, not to mention all the birds. The highlight for me was the gorillas in Bwindi NP.

I can highly recommend Ben as a tour guide.

Thank you, Marlene, for your kind words. We’re so pleased Ben was able to give you such a wonderful holiday in Uganda, the Heart of Africa!

How did you hear about Homestead Tours and Safaris?: Uganda tourism stand at Watermead Country Park, Leicestershire

Date of your Tour: October 6th – 21st 2017

Name of your Tour (if a pre-planned package) or Main Places Visited (if it was a tailor-made Tour): 14 day experiential safari, incorporating several national parks (Murchison Falls, Queen Elizabeth and Lake Mburo), chimpanzee and gorilla trekking, and cultural visits.

Your comments, including any highlights: This was an absolutely fantastic trip! Ben was a brilliant driver and guide, with an amazing knowledge of the wildlife and ecosystems of Uganda which he was very happy to share with us. He was tireless in enabling us to pack in the most we possibly could during our stay. Of course we loved to see the lions, elephants, hippo – and especially the mountain gorillas at Mgahinga! But some of our most enjoyable experiences were meeting and talking with local guides, particularly at Sipi Falls , the Nyero rock paintings, and Bigodi wetland – everyone was so welcoming, and we had some really interesting discussions. At the end of our stay, we just wanted to do it all over again! We would absolutely recommend Ben and Homestead Tours – in fact we’ve told loads of friends about this company already.

Thank you for your kind review, and for encouraging others to visit Uganda with Ben and Robert. We are so pleased that it was such a special trip for you both. Hope to see you again!

How did you hear about Homestead Tours and Safaris?: In Uganda

Date of your Tour: 22 December 2018

Name of your Tour (if a pre-planned package) or Main Places Visited (if it was a tailor-made Tour): 10 days tracking chimpanzees and gorillas

Your comments, including any highlights: This tour was incredible!! We were a group of 4 and Ben made every effort to take care of and consider everyone’s needs and wishes. He was passionate about helping us to see as many animals as possible and tagged on extra game drives if we wanted them. He is also an incredible animal spotter. Ben also communicated with other drivers and rangers to ensure we found the animals.
While driving along and watching the potholes in the road, he saw a leopard in a tree. We saw many animals at close range and that was a real treat for me: elephants, giraffe, rhinos (at the sanctuary), 2 leopards, tree lions, hippos, chimpanzees, baboons, monkeys, gorillas and different antelope and many birds.
He also happily answered questions and shared lots of information along the way.
Thank you Ben for an outstanding trip. Ancilla

We had such a great time on our trip with Homestead Tours! Ben is an outstanding guide and he made our trip both interesting and exciting. His knowledge of wildlife (particularly birds) and Ugandan culture meant we had the trip of a lifetime. I would definitely recommend a tour with Homestead Tours to anyone! Not only did we see all of the wildlife we had dreamed of, we also felt we had made a friend in Ben who looked after us so well.
